香叶的茎、叶经水汽蒸馏提取的具有玫瑰香气的淡黄绿色芳香油称为香叶油。香叶油应用范围广，用量较大，含有玫瑰醇，是玫瑰型香精的主要调香剂，可作为玫瑰油的代用品，是调配各种香水、香皂、牙膏、化妆品和食用香精的母体香料。产品配方300多种。过去一直靠国外进口，现仅云南的香叶油满足了国内需要，并有批量出口。
